This app lets business owners and webmasters see how well their website has been configured to get clicks in search engine listings. It does this by analyzing the “Meta Description” tag in every page of your website (or a competitor’s website) to see if it starts with a verb. Starting with a verb is equivalent to having a “call to action” (also called a CTA) in the search results.

For example, a webpage meta description WITHOUT a call to action – meaning it does not begin with a verb - might be like this:
People can sell widgets right from their personal website by using one of our promotional banners.

But a webpage that has a good call to action in its meta description tag might be this instead:
Sell widgets right from your personal website by using one of our promotional banners.

Statistics indicate that starting a web page meta description tag with a verb leads to more clicks in search engine results. Many webmasters and website creators ignore this important aspect of a website. As a result, the website may not receive as it could from search engines. Note that search engines sometimes compensate by putting their own description of a website when there is no meta description tag or when they determine that the meta description in the page doesn’t fully match the searcher’s intent.

Having a meta description tag starting with a verb to get more clicks in search results is a way of enhancing what SEO providers refer to as the ClickThrough Rate (also called CTR) in search engine results pages (SERPs). Having a better CTR than your competitors in search results can enhance your site’s rankings as well.
